SOLVE Wind, the joint venture between Danish wind-turbine maintenance specialist Liftra and Spanish engineering consultancy Esteyco, has successfully presented and named its first ATOMS platform on the 2nd of December at the Port of Ferrol, Spain.

The platform was officially named ATOMS ANA by Per Fenger, Pia Lanken and Carlos García Acón.

The first-generation ATOMS platform presented in Ferrol is designed for major corrective maintenance on fixed-bottom offshore wind turbines up to 4 MW, working in combination with Liftra’s LT1200 Self-Hoisting Crane.

During the previous weeks the semi-submersible platform completed its outfitting, was put afloat and developed its acceptance tests including sea trials.

Pia Lanken, Managing Director of SOLVE Wind, stated: “SOLVE Wind is built on a strong foundation created by two of the wind industry’s most visionary players, Liftra and Esteyco. The ATOMS platform addresses some of the most critical challenges in offshore maintenance and installation”.

Industry Perspectives and SOLVE Wind’s Ambition

The presentation gathered offshore wind executives and stakeholders to mark a technology set to significantly reduce costs and streamline major corrective operations on offshore wind turbines.

The event featured a panel discussion with Jan Hylleberg (Green Power Denmark), Juan de Dios López (Spanish Wind Energy Association, AEE), and Carsten Rosendahl (Trade Council of Denmark in South Europe), who explored how Europe can maintain its global leadership in offshore wind through collaboration and continued innovation.

Jan Hylleberg, deputy CEO of Green Power Denmark led a talk with Per Fenger and Carlos García Acón on the history of SOLVE Wind and the ATOMS Platform.

Reflecting on the joint venture journey, Carlos García Acón, CEO of Esteyco, said:

“Since Esteyco first approached Liftra with an idea in 2021, our partnership has developed into a venture built on innovation, adaptability, and mutual respect. Today’s milestone shows how that vision has materialized.”

Per Fenger, CEO of Liftra, added:

“This is the first step towards more affordable and sustainable offshore operations. With today’s high LCOE, a solution like the ATOMS platform is essential. We now look forward to its first offshore operation in 2026 using Liftra’s Self-Hoisting Crane in combination with the ATOMS platform.”
